The increase will also help enable the Government to continue improving its services
The cost of applying for a new British passport will rise next month.
The Government said it would introduce new passport fees for all applications on the 2nd of February 2023, affecting those newly applying for or renewing their passport.
The new fees for passports are as follows:
Online Applications
- An Adult Standard online application will rise from £75.50 to £82.50
- A Child Standard Online Application will increase from £49 to £53.50.
Postal Applications
- A standard Adult postal application will go up to £93, previously £85.
- A child application will rise to £64, up from £58.50.
A government spokesperson said the following:
“The Government does not make any profit from the cost of passport applications.
“The fees will also contribute to the cost of processing passport applications, consular support overseas, including for lost or stolen passports, and processing British citizens at UK borders.
“The increase will also help enable the Government to continue improving its services.”
