Universal Planning a Brand New Theme Park in the U.K

The Park Could Open as Early as 2030

Universal Studios' theme park division has been expanding rapidly. Reports suggest they plan to expand to the United Kingdom, which could threaten Disney's dominance in the theme park industry.

Orlando Park Stop has published a report predicting Universal's next expansion: Universal Great Britain. While Universal has not yet confirmed the plans, Orlando Park Stop's findings make a convincing case that Universal has purchased land in Bedford, England, and registered relevant domain names.

The report states that Universal has acquired around 500 acres of land in Bedford, England, only 46 miles north of London, a popular tourist destination. The land was purchased for potential theme park expansion opportunities, and the report suggests that Universal may be planning to create a park similar to Universal Studios Beijing, featuring a lot of indoor attractions to mitigate weather concerns.

The report also speculates that the new park may not open with any cloned attractions from Universal Orlando Resort to avoid cannibalising Universal's overseas travel market. Instead, the park may debut with new attractions not found in Orlando to attract visitors from other markets and UK locals.

The report suggests that Universal may be considering acquiring outside intellectual properties for the new park, such as James Bond, Paddington Bear, and The Lord of the Rings. It would also not be surprising to see another expansion of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The new park could open in 2030 and be a good spot for a 2-day visit during any vacation to London. The park's opening could compete with Disney's plans for a new park in the UK.
