Heathrow Trialling Security Pre-Booking System

Heathrow said the service will benefit Nervous Travellers and Families

Passengers departing from London's Heathrow Airport can now enjoy a more convenient and streamlined travel experience thanks to the newly launched "Heathrow Timeslot" program. This initiative allows travellers to pre-book a timeslot at the security checkpoint, which is currently available for Terminal 3 departures only. The program is free to use and is currently undergoing a six-month trial.

To take advantage of the program, passengers can book their preferred timeslot up to three days prior to their departure on the Heathrow website. Families and groups of up to five can also book the same timeslot. The airport reminds travellers to check with their respective airlines for any baggage drop-off or check-in deadlines.

The six-month trial period will assess the program's effectiveness, and additional airlines may be added to the pilot as it progresses. Heathrow's Operational Planning Director, Mark Powell, expressed confidence that the program would be well-received by travellers, especially those who may be nervous or travelling with families.

Terminal 3 serves major airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, and Virgin Atlantic. In 2022, Heathrow handled a record 61.6 million passengers, reflecting a staggering 217 per cent increase over 2021. This growth was the highest of any airport globally, according to the financial disclosure report from Heathrow.

With "Heathrow Timeslot", passengers can enjoy added certainty and reassurance ahead of their journey, making travel through one of the world's largest airports much more manageable.
