The actor who most famously played Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series also starred in the comedy sketch Alfresco and the drama series Cracker died last night aged 72.

Fans swarmed in front of the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction and raised wands and pink umbrellas in an emotional tribute to the star.

Coltrane also had a lead role in the famous attraction Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure over at Islands of Adventure.
