D23: New Animal Kingdom Land Featuring Indiana Jones & Encanto to Open in 2027
After much speculation, Disney has officially announced that DinoLand, U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom, will undergo a significant transformation. The current dinosaur-themed area will be replaced by a new Tropical Americas-themed land, featuring attractions based on the beloved franchises of Indiana Jones and "Encanto." The reimagined area is expected to debut in 2027 and will be set in a fictional location known as Pueblo Esperanza, translating to "village of hope."
One of the key changes will involve re-theming the existing Dinosaur ride, a Jeep-like thrill attraction that has been a part of Animal Kingdom since its opening in 1998, to fit into the world of Indiana Jones. Despite sharing the same ride system as the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland, the new Indiana Jones-themed ride at Animal Kingdom will present a distinct storyline, offering guests a fresh and exciting experience.
In addition to the Indiana Jones attraction, a new ride inspired by the hit film "Encanto" will be introduced at the park. Set inside the Madrigals' Casita, this completely original attraction will allow visitors to embark on an immersive journey through a rainforest, joining Antonio as he discovers his special ability to communicate with animals. According to Scott Trowbridge, the portfolio executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, guests can look forward to unexpected encounters with various members of the Madrigal family during their exploration.
As part of the transition, portions of DinoLand, U.S.A., will close in phases, starting in fall 2024. This marks the beginning of a significant overhaul that will culminate in unveiling the new attractions and themed area at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
The announcement of these changes has generated excitement among Disney fans, who eagerly anticipate the arrival of these new experiences at the park.
