D23: Brand New Monsters inc. Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
During the recent Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro, along with Disney Legend Billy Crystal, unveiled plans for an all-new land inspired by Disney and Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort.
Following the narrative of Pixar Animation Studios' beloved film, Monsters, Inc., the new land will welcome humans into the world of Monsters, Inc. The whimsical area will be dedicated to capturing the essence of the movie, featuring the sights and sounds of Monstropolis. The city relies on humans' laughter to function smoothly, and visitors will have the opportunity to play a part in this by strolling the streets alongside their favorite monsters.
As part of the experience, guests will have the chance to explore the factory itself, immersing themselves in the setting where the story of “Monsters, Inc.” unfolds. A highlight of the new land will be a suspended coaster, offering a thrilling aerial journey through the factory, akin to riding on the iconic doors seen in the film.
Josh D’Amaro expressed his excitement about being able to bring the door vault to life, stating, “The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley.”
The announcement was made to a packed house of 12,000 Disney fans at the Disney Experiences Showcase held in Anaheim, CA. This event, presented by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro, provided updates and revealed details about new and eagerly anticipated projects from Disney Parks and Experiences across the globe. With work on the project set to commence next year, fans eagerly anticipate this monstrous new addition to the park.
